If the king loses his head, then the Queen with a Bleeding Heart would rule the Red Court until Time ceased to move forward. When a second carried on for infinity, every creature in Wonderland would tip their Hat to the misfit girl with a Boy’s name (or was it a boy with a Girl’s name?) who’d end the Reign of Terror. However, it all hinged on the One-Eyed Hare being able to convince an uninspirable Heir that the impossible was indeed possible—like stopping time—and that Love was worth a Beheading.
Heads would Roll…
Hearts would Break…
In the end, would it matter who Reigned?
THE REVIEW
Once again I find myself reviewing a book that I can't go into any details about because it would be a spoiler!
What I will say is this...
Walt Disney has lied to me.
Nothing is ever what it seems.
This Wonderland IS and IS NOT the one I knew. The same rings true for all the characters.
It all started with a few prophecies. Unfortunately, they are not reliable prophecies because this Jack is not as talented as his great great-grandfather. Yet, there are truths to every prophecy especially if you believe them enough to make them true.
This is a much darker Wonderland than we know but I have to give the author many props for maintaining the allure, uniqueness, and magic of this world. Even more props for owning it in such a unique way. All the characters are ones we know but they have evolved from something familiar to oh so new with substance and complexity. That was all Sarah J. Pepper.
You should definitely be excited about this read and you should definitely get into it. Furthermore, you should be aware that this read takes a bit getting used to but only because Sarah J. Pepper has captured the essence of Wonderland. Her unique writing style is exactly what I would have expected of a world that is as whacky as Wonderland. Her writing will keep the reader on their toes, fearing the crazy and hoping for the best. In the end... Well you'll see.
