Oh Atticus, how I love thee but I love Oberon so much more!

I have to say this was the best short story in the series yet. I loved every single part of it. This short picks up six years after the last book, Tricked, bringing us to speed on the fact that Atticus and crew are doing pretty well and are progressing nicely in druid training.
All is peaceful until the Morrigan shows up one day, out of the blue, six years later. Suddenly, things are just not that peaceful anymore.

Because this is a short it will forever be hard to say enough without saying much at all. What I will say is that once again Kevin Hearne delivers a great read. There are a bunch of “ha ha” moments in this one as we start to realize these last six years are increasingly becoming difficult for Atticus when it comes to just seeing Granuaile as a student apprentice and not as a woman. Even Oberon is losing faith in Atticus’ abilities to think of anything but her tight yoga pants. The man can only think baseball for so long. There are also more serious moments as we get a glimpse into Atticus’ past as well as some of the struggles the Morrigan faces on a daily basis. Atticus is pretty cool, but dang, he has a past! The Morrigan is crazy, but dang, you can’t help to feel sorry for her. Only a little though. Hearne also manages to weave in a nice dose of action!

Again I was so impressed with this read because it flowed nicely, it definitely brought us up to date smoothly and it also presents a little twist that sets us up for what’s to come in the next few books. I really can’t wait to press fast forward six years and read Trapped.

(Trapped takes place six years after this short. You won’t have to wait six years to read it. You’ll only have to wait two weeks.) :-)
